You're fired

Jan 22, 2008

"Avec la blessure de Huet, ça m'a permis de connaître un jeune en qui j'ai confiance, il a démontré de bon match avec le Canadien, n'oublions pas qu'on est allé loin? Je crois qu' Halak peut faire quelque chose de bon, comme il nous l'a démontré l'an dernier, j'aimerais le voir avec le Canadien pour longtemps. On dirait même qu' on l'a oublié? On en parle peu."
-comment from RDS.ca (roughly translated into, "When Huet was injured last year, I got the chance to get to know someone young in which I have confidence. He played some good games with the Canadiens -- have we forgotten that we made progress in the standings with him? I beleive Halak can do good things, as he showed us last year, and I'd like to see him with the Habs for a long time. It's almost as if we've forgotten him, though. We barely talk about him anymore."

Finally! Someone who thinks as I do!
Has the world completely forgotten about Halak? After all he did last year? He may be our backup now but that wasn't the case at the end of last year. He stepped in when the team needed it most, and let's not forget that it wasn't his fault that he didn't play during the dreaded "last game of the year". I have nothing agaisnt Huet, but he had JUST gotten back from an injury...and our little Jaro was doing just fine. So why play Cristo? We may never know...
Well. We might have at least made the playoffs :/ That's for sure.

But hey. Cristo-wall is playing great these past few days. So duhhh. Of course he's our numero uno. WOW MONTREAL FINALLY HAS AN OFFICIAL STARTER GOALIE!! The last time that happened...Theodore was still around ;) After him it was like back and forth between Huet, Aebischer (who's in Europe or something?) and Halak...and Price for a while.
Hehehe. A starter! It's great! (for now...until Carbs decides otherwise...)
:o Oops. Did I say that out loud?

So the Leafs finally fired their GM. Not that it's a good thing...it's just that the rumor mill was spitting so much shit out that I didn't know when it would happen. Than BAM. It was done.
So what now, TML?

"Habs fall to Sid-less Pens"
-The beautiful header on canadiens.com of tonight's game

Pitsburgh must be some kind of holy-super-team or something. They won a game even WITHOUT Sid the Baby. Oh, how wonderful.
:|

Good for Sabourin, though. For some unknown reason, he seems to play well against Montreal. What's the deal? I don't know. All I wish is that Conklin (despite being on a winning streak) would've played instead of him. We may have at least scored a goal.

Oh, and did I ever mention I can't stand the Penguins? I didn't mind them a few years back, but ever since Crosby burst onto the scene...well, you know.
Unfortunately...at the begining of Sid's career, I actually...umm... liked him. *flinches* YES BEAT ME IF YOU'D LIKE. I used to think he was the coolest thing... When we went to a Sens/Pens game during my grade 8 school trip, I was jumping up and down at the thought of seeing him live. I was young, okay? I didn't know any better. Geez.

Anyway, next game: Boston.
Mmmm. Bruins.

DID YOU SEE KOSTITSYN'S GOAL LAST NIGHT?!?!
I'm sorry. It was just gorgeous. He deked the whole team before backhanding it top-shelf. I nearly cried.

Anywho. It was fun to watch. Lehtonen was at the top of his game, but the Habs still managed to win in the shootouts. YES! You heard me correctly! In the shootouts! Montreal beat Kovalchuk and Hossa in the shootouts (actually, Kovalchuk didn't even get the chance to shoot, and Holik completely missed the net)! HUET MADE A RAD SAVE ON HOSSA! HE MOVED! I'M PROUD!
'Cause I was preeeetty mad when he let in one of those I-wasn't-even-in-the-net-cause-I-was-trying-to-play-the-puck-goals. Talk about redeeming yourself! Yay Huet<3!

edit:
Look at what I stumbled upon! >here<
When I saw it I was like "I gotta favorite this biatch!" I swear, Halak's the coolest goalie ever born, fosho. Who cares if I couldn't understand a word he said, I'm sure it was something...deep!
;D
...and >one more< for the road. Man, the begining brings back good memories of last season... I miss the days when he played. (Yeah, yeah. I'm having a mega-fan-moment. 'Scuuuuse me.) Too bad about the over played "I Like To Move It Song". Kinda ruins the moment. Really. Take it off.

Change is good

Jan 17, 2008

I added a header-image thing today. I made it myself :)
(teamcanadagoaliesforthewin)

Habs @ Atlanta tonight!! Good luck against Kovalchuk and company ;) (You'll need it -- especially if the game goes into shootouts and Huet decides to be a bonafide pylon again.)
Hmm. It kinda seems like I have some kind of grudge agaisnt Huet, doesn't it?
...Well.
I don't.
I luv him!

Puck-bunny moment

Justin Pogge

for Bootlegger~~!!! *squeels like a groupie*

I'm sorry... he's just too cute to not squeel about.
(he's ripped!!! :'D)

/end puck-bunny moment

Dear Habs,
Ya'll better play well tonight. No half-ass this time. I want 60 minutes of non-stop hard work (NOT JUST 40). And Huet. You better prove to me that you were a better choice over Halak. 'Cause I ain't too happy that he ain't playin.
That's my opinion, anyway.
Love,
Alexia (your #1 fan 4evah)<3

My oh my!

Jan 13, 2008

Yeah, so I shouldn't have gotten too excited that Montreal was on a winning streak. I mean, I actually expected them to win against the struggling Rangers, but...you know. The Habs are a special team.
The game did have some positive points, though. Like the fact that Halak played the 3rd period (and didn't let any goals in), and the fact that Sergei Kostistyn (baby brother of Andrei) scored our only goal :) I had fun cheering really loud for those two guys.

I learned at the begining of the week that my mom had e-mailed the Bulldogs to ask if I could possibly meet Halak when we went down (cause I guess I'm some kind of huge fan) and and...they e-mail her back and said that they're always happy to make special requests for fans...and that is where the happy ends. Right after, he told my mom that Halak had been called up and therefore meeting him was not possible. He also added, "I'm sure your daughter will be very proud of him for being in Montreal!!"
...
... *twitch*
...
Of course I'm proud. I'm very, very happy!
BUT MEETING HIM WOULDA BEEN SPEC-FREAKING-TACULAR.

And this whole thing woulda been a surprise for me. Imagine the look on my face... Ohhh god. It would of been priceless. (I was friggin starstruck/speechless when I met friggin Alain Goulet! Frigg! Imagine me meeting Halak?? It would be like an instant cardiac arrest!)

YAY! I watched San Jose come from behind and beat the Maple Laffs last night. I had fun laughing at them (and Nabokov 'cause he's just the funniest/cutest goalie ever).
The strange thing is, at the end of the game, when I was done snickering and when I realized this was yet ANOTHER disapointing loss for the Leafs, I think I actually felt a grain of sadness for them (their having some...troubles. I mean, WHAT KIND OF TEAM turns down Scotty Bowman???). I know. I had to pinch myself to see if I was having some kind of twisted nightmare. ME?? SYMPATHY?? TORONTO???? NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Talk about a funky hockey night.

Think again

Jan 10, 2008

I thought it would of been interesting to see Halak play tonight against Boston. You know, considering the fact he has 2 shutouts in 3 games against them. But hey. Huet's "on a roll" (and he's starter goalie...) So forget about it.

Oh, of course I want Halak to play. He's my favorite player evarrr.
...
HE BETTER AT LEAST START (and hopefully finish) ONE GAME WHILE HE'S UP. I mean geez. I know he's cute and everything but he's not just there for his looks. Let him play!

Oh.

Jan 8, 2008

So.
Let me get this straight.

Chipchura & Price ----> Out
Locke & Halak ----> In

...
So.
Price is down so that he can "play more games" and Chips needs to...err to...think...or something like that.
Riiiight. Well. Welcome to the NHL then Locke! (And welcome back Halak ;P)
All I hope for is that Price's little trip to Steel Town doesn't last too long. A be-back-before-January-25th-so-that-Alexia-can-see-Halak-in Hamilton length trip would be perfect. :D
My concern for Jaro's being in Hamilton on the 25th doesn't stop me from being overjoyed to see him back in Montreal, though. Duhhh. When I saw that he was back, I jumped up, squeeled like a true fan-girl, and then, after a few seconds, clicked. Cue the flashbacks of all the people who laughed and teased me by saying, "Hey imagine if Halak was called up right before you went to Hamilton? Hahahah! Ouch! That would really suck!!"
Yes. It was a pretty huge moment ruiner.
Anyway, after hearing "the news", I ran into the kitchen to tell my parents. My dad tried to comfort me by saying "worst case scenario, you'll get to see Price play!!"...but.
...
But. Dad. Halak is my favorite player. I wanna watch him. Not Carey Price.

Jacques Demers better be right. Price better only play 4 games in Hamilton (then come back a new man!)
:(
I'm so torn. I want Halak to be in Montreal...but...I also really REALLY (x8326556) want him to be in Steel Town while we're there.
Sigh.

Before I get back to watching the good 'ol Habs/Blackhawks game (wow it's suddenly 3-2 for Chicago), I'd like to say a few words about...THE FACT THAT CAROLINA CLAIMED SERGEI SAMSONOV ON WAIVERS. The man is an enigma. HE HAD LESS POINTS THAN FREAKING TOMAS VOKOUN LAST TIME I CHECKED. Need I remind you that Tomas Vokoun is a goalie?
Yeah. Like I said, the man is an enigma.

Well, bonne chance, Hurricanes (not really). Bonne chance.

Gold

Team Canada won GOLD!!!

After being lead 2-0 into the 3rd, team Sweden did what they did the last time they played Canada -- make a comeback. With only a few seconds left in the 3rd period, they scored and forced the game into over-time.
That was about the time when Alex swore she was about to pass-out.
I was sitting on my couch, curled up in a ball, trying to mentally prepare myself for what was ahead. But as much as I tried to calm myself down, I knew it would never be enough. I'd be devastated if they'd lose. I'd grown attached to the group of guys (as I had last year...) What? I have an addictive personnality :)
Once into over-time, with everyone in the room litterally at the edge of their seats, we all held our breath and hoped that someone would just SCORE. (Preferably Canada, of course.) 3:36 into OT, a mini-scramble errupted around Enroth's crease and team Canada managed to squeeze the puck between the goalie's pads...and across the goal line.
Who...the heck...
HALISCHUK!!!!!!!!!! He did it~~ :')
The whole room was jumping up and down, and I flopped, exhausted, in front of the tele. Finally. We could breathe again.

Things were awesome until I saw this:

:( Enroth...he was just laying there...looking simply devastated... The ref had to come over and see if he was okay... And then they showed his face. And I felt like crying. There were tears pouring out of his eyes...and and... I can't even explain how sad it was. I felt sooo bad for him.
My mom looked at me and knew, "Ohhh, Alex! You must be so sad! That's exactly what you don't like to see..."
Yes. My heart is weak when it comes to goalies. So seeing them devastated to the point of tears is like a cruel sort of torture. I sat there for a moment, thinking of how horrible the poor guy must feel, and tried not to look at his face. It didn't help that the camera dude seemed to enjoy mega-zooming into Enroth as he looked on at the celebrating team Canada with tears in his eyes. WHAT KIND OF CAMERA MAN ARE YOU?? I'm trying to celebrate here!! Watching team Sweden cry isn't exactly heart-warming. It's depressing as hell.

But heyyy. Team Canada won! Happy thoughts!!

"What pain? It is hard to feel the pain when you have a gold medal around your neck."
-Team Canada forward Stefan Legein on his right shoulder seperation

p.s.
Ovechkin finally scored his first goal in Montreal. Woohooo. Coulda kept it at ONE goal, but noooo. He had to score two.

Jan 3, 2008

We meet again, Tampa.

I'm going to my friend's tonight, so I might not catch the whole game...
:( Maybe I should talk her into watching it at her house. I DON'T CARE IF SHE'S A SENS FAN. She can watch.
:)
