Yay?

Dec 29, 2007

Montreal really took the state of Florida by storm. They owned each of the state's teams and, since they won both games with 5 goals for, gave everyone at La Cage aux Sports free chicken wings -- two days in a row!! How yummy.

Canada's 20 win streak was snapped by none other than Team Sweden today. Oh noes! I knew it would happen if they didn't play really, really, really hard! Ah, well. Can't win 'em all. Plus, the gold medal game is what really counts. :O Well...let's hope they make it that far. Ehh?

I'm going to Hamilton at the end of the month to see back-to-back Bulldogs' games. I can't waiiiit! Even if I'll be sitting in the attack zone (meaning Halak will be in front of me for only one period), I'm glad we got good seats -- and that I'll actually be at a game! I just hope Halak plays at least ONE of the games. Imagine if I got there and I didn't get to see my favorite player? Talk about a major freeaking piss off.

Anywhoo, I'll post after tomorrow's game, I guess. Hopefully the Habs'll be able to get yet another goalie pulled ;)
Montreal's comin' for ya Luuuundqvist!! Bwahahaha.

Canada seems to be making it's mark early on in the IIHF this year. With an all-time 20 wins in a row record, and 2 shutouts in 2 games, they're lookin' good. Despite a few sloppy moments throughout the games, they've all played quite well. Not to mention the practically perfect defence AND goaltending. I'm so proud!

Saturday Canada faces off against the always challenging Team Sweden, and I'm looking forward to it. Our little Canucks will need to step it up a notch to beat these guys!

^Julius Hudacek is a wicked goalie ... I don't know what it is about Slovakian goaltenders... I just love 'em ;)

Christmas Miracle

Dec 23, 2007

Oh my god.
Oh...my god. I'm speachless.

Our very own AAA Midget team actually won a game. To think I was convinced they couldn't do it... Way to prove me wrong, boys!

It was a really intense game, too. With a few minutes left in the 2nd period, Ryan, the Flyers' goalie, got a skate in the leg and had to go to the hospital for stitches. (OH THE DRAMA!) So, they had to put Shawn in to take his place. The rest of the game was HARDCORE. Man, with only a few minutes left in the 3rd (3-1 for the good guys), New Liskeard scored. Hooooooly crap. It took the guys forever to score the empty-neter... and Van and I were on the edge of our seats THE WHOLE TIME. When they finally did score, I jumped up and squeeled (it was a reflex, I swear...)
THE FLYERS FRIGGIN WON A GAAAAAAAME!!!!!!! I'm so proud of them :) Oh, and I'm pretty sure they played extra hard to impress Alain Goulet.
Makes sense, non?

I took a few pictures with my cell during the game. Mostly of New Liskeard's goalie, but I think I have one of Kap after they had won ;) What? He was a cute goaler.

Anywho, here are the pics:

New Liskeard Cubs (and their goalie :D)

Kapuskasing Flyers (after they had just won :D)

Now I have to brace myself for tonight's game...Dallas! Ahhhhhh.

Huet + Shootout = ...no

Dec 22, 2007

Oh, Lehtonen. Why are you so awesome?

As soon as Montreal went into the shootouts, I knew they had lost. I mean reeeeeally. Hossa? Kozlov? Kovalchuk? Pshhh.
It doesn't help that Huet looks shaky -- for lack of better words -- in the shootouts. I dunno. It seems it's not the first time he's not even flynched when a player shoots at him.
Oh, whatever. That could be just me.

I'm not that mad, though. They got a point, and that's all that matters. ... Well, it woulda been nice for them to win...but heyyy. I like Atlanta.

AND SO LIFE GOES ON.
Until tomorrow when Montreal goes head to head with Mike Ribeiro, the Taco Bell Dog, and the Dallas Stars.

Should be a good game!

p.s. World Juniors on Boxing Day!!! I can't freggin' beleive it's been a year since Carey Price won the Gold with Canada. Now look at him. All grown up...
*tear*
How beautiful.

It's a meracle

Dec 21, 2007

Last night's game went by quickly. I barely remember any of it -- apart from Streit's goal. Why his goal in particular? I have no clue. It just lodged into my brain somehow.
At one point, I was so preoccupied with practicing my wristshot (I was watching the game in the garage at the same time) that I didn't even notice Marshmellow's* 2nd goal. My brother and I turned to TV with a minute left in the second period and went, "Oh. When the hell did it become 3-1?"
Yep. It was special.

All in all, everything went well hockey-wise last night. Montreal won, Toronto lost and Atlanta won (which means Ottawa lost HAHAHA not so good now are ya??).
Yayyyy life.

Well, I better get ready for my hockey practice. Wooo. I'll be able to show Van how shweet my wristshot skills are. TRY TO SAVE THIS SHOT, GIIIIRL. Bwahahaha.

*Marshmellow is but one of the many nicknames I've given to Guillaume Latendresse. "Guillaume", to me, sounds alot like the french word "guimauve". "Guimauve" means "marshmellow", sooo yeah. You catch my drift.

Nicknames for other players:
Special K -- Tom Kostopoulous
Swiss Cheese -- Mark Streit
Chips -- Kyle Chipchura
Turtle-nec -- Tomas Plekanec
Tenderloin, Letender, Tender, Guimauve, Marshmeller -- Guillaume Latendresse
Shnoze -- Alex Kovalev (I know, I know...it's mean)

And more! :)

UPDATES + more icons

The Habs are playing the Caps tonight, babay. Bring on Ovechkin & Backstrom (and the others, but I'll be watching those two closely 'cause they're cool)!

Hey, did you know I actually don't mind the Capitals? Yeah! Well, then again, I don't dislike much teams apart from Toronto and Carolina...

Anyway. I better get back to watching the game, 'cause the Habs just scored and it's kinda hard for me to watch and type at the same time.

So peace, ya'll.

p.s. Are ya glad to be starting again, Huey?
