Feeling Blue(s)

Mar 18, 2008

Losing to St. Louis in the shoutouts has left a bad after-taste in my mouth.

I would have been content with the 1 point, but I was especially rooting for the win since, well, you know, Halak was in net. He made a nice save in the shoutouts to keep the team in, yet Kovie failed to score right after. Hense the loss.

The Blues' 2nd goal was...eessh. My dad shouted "SIEVE" as a joke just to pee me off and I gave him a "oh-hell-no-you-didn't" glare. Poor Jaro. Shit happens... gotta give the shooter credit though. It was a hell of a shot.

Man. I can't deny it... St. Louis played well. Especially Legace near the end. He was so-lid.
They're lucky I don't mind the team. Any other time I woulda been bitching way out.

Sigh.
I hate losing.
I'm a sore loser that way.

At least we got a point...hmmm...at least.

I still <3 Halak :) It's awesome to watch him play with MTL again.

Now you see what I see

Mar 17, 2008

Et voila!

Halak's shiny shutout was well deserved indeed, thanks to his hard work and patience. He's such a trooper... playing hard every game, never complaining..etc. I could go on and on!
Is it any wonder he's been my favorite player for nearly a year now? <3
Keep making me proud, Jaro!

Obviously I'm not the only one impressed by Halak's work. Carbs trusted him to start tomorrow against St. Louis. Go Carbs! I'm proud of you, too!

I still can't get over the Habs this year...it's just...wow. I won't say to much 'cause I'm sure I'll jynx it, but...wow.

London Knights are starting their playoff run on the 21st of march. They're playing the Guelph Storm. Ouuhh~ Should be good. I'm hoping I can catch a game or two. Really, it would be a huge frakin bummer if I'd miss out on the 1st series.
I'm still saving for a S. Kostitsyn Knights jersey, peeps. When the A&W opens in town, Van and I are gonna get a job there. That way, I'll make some mad-cash an I'll be able to buy myself some nice jerseys and and WOOO. JERSEYS BEWARE, THE GREAT-FAN COMETH.

Our very own Kap Flyers are starting their tryouts as early as April this year. Seriously, rad. Since the whole team and personel is getting an extreme-makeover, this season should be...interesting. The team will prolly train, like, all summer. Which is totally boss and seems so much more hard-core than the usual "august-tryouts-not-even-2-months-to-practice-together-regime".
I like it.
And I'm looking forward to seeing all the out-of-towners!

Mar 14, 2008

About last night...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmyeah. Not in the mood to go back to that sad time, but... I must be strong.
Being shutout by the sens is about as painful as watching Toronto sweep a back-to-back series against Philly. Maybe even more painful, actually. Over the past year, I've grown to become very bitchy toward Ottawa. The stress and competition between the two clubs lately might have to do with it...and to think I used to adore the Sens. Hmmph. They think they're so great... with they're little Spezza/Heatly/Alfredsson line. Psh. Whatever! They're just wannabes off..like..the... KOVIE/PLEKS/AK46 LINE.
Yeah they wish they were that pro.
...
Sigh.
Yes.
I'm bitter.

Seriously, though. They completely shut down the blue, blanc, rouge. Practically in every facet of the game. Every time Kovie touched the puck, 3275 sens were on him. They blocked a bunch of shots, too. Aaaand their goals were...not Carey's fault? Sir Stoic had no chance on the deflection nor the weird nearly-over-the-crossbar one. To be honest, I don't even remember the 3rd goal.

For the first time in a long time, Montreal succeeded in out-shooting their opponent. Kudos to them for that!

As long as the Habs make it to the playoffs, I'm happy. That's all that matters. Seriously, NOBODY expected Montreal to come out this strong this season. Effing Hockey News rated them a D+ and didn't place them in the post-season.
It's a delightful surprise.
IN YOUR FACE, NON-BELIEVERS.

Yessir!
Halak is starting tomorrow vs NYI. It feels like forever since I've watched him play (a week).
....
.......
Yeah yeah. I know. But a week..'tis too long in my books! But then again...I am a huge *coughcrazycough* fan of his. Of course I want to see him play more often!
I'm just glad he's back in Montreal (he is too and it's cute how he constantly says how happy he is in interviews).
Make me proud, Halàk! (randomly decided to put the accent in his name for the first time..ever?)

1st place (again)

Mar 11, 2008

The race for 1st in the east is soooo tight. It's crazy, really. But fun at the same time :) and not to mention exciting.

Tonight, rookie goalie Price had the upperhand on veteran Brodeur. I found it cool that he shut out Sutter as well. This same guy had cut Carey from team Canada last tryouts. ;) Payback much?
It was a really good game all around. The whole team played great. When Smolinski scored, and jumped up and squeeled...and woke up my dad who had dozed off on the couch. Sorry? I guess I was surprised to see Smo score that early in the game (when was the last time he scored a goal at all?..:O). Anyway, yeah. As I was saying, the whole team played awesomely. I mean, they may have let 38 shots on goal but at least they set up some great offense. Really. Sergei K tonight was like...oh my god. Just amazing. I love the way he plays! He's like a freaking wicked passer, plus he has that little cocky in-your-face attitude. He isn't afraid to smack some guys around or get in a scruffle. The kid played for the London Knights under Dale Hunter. Yeah. With Gagner, Kane & company. No joke he's good. The more I watch him play, the more he grows on me. He's one of my favourite skaters for sure :D and I wanna get a Habs and/or London Knights jersey of him :D!
Sergei Kostistyn audio clip after tonight's game: http://www.gazblogs.com/habsinsideout-files/2008%2011%20March%20Stubbs/s%20kostitsyn.mp3

By the way. Halak on Saturday? Totally boss ♥♥♥ ooops have I mentioned this before? ;)

Hahahaha..hahh. On a side note...has anyone noticed how well Sergei Samsonov has been playing with Carolina? Glad he's finally found his niche somewhere! Geez..funny guy....

Halak-attack

Mar 8, 2008

Seee? Halak is amazing <3 With tonight's 5-2 win agaisnt LA, he boosted his own NHL record to 11-6-0, and helped the Habs achieve their 38th win (38-22-9)
35 saves...great ones, too. Way to show everyone how awesome you are, Jaro. Keep rocking!

Hmmm...Anaheim tomorrow...scary.

Feb 26, 2008

I thought hey if Huet's been traded and Grabovski's up, maybe Hossa will come to Montreal.
Wrong.
Marian Hossa signed with my FAVORITE EFFING TEAM. The Pitsburgh Penguins. WOW. Great. Just great.

I told myself that the loss of Huet (for a freaking 2nd round pick???) would be made up for by the aquisition of Hossa. But no. Of course not. The Habs did it again. We have 2 rookie goaltenders, ages 20 and 22 -- which pratically makes them children, and no new offence. I'd waive any chance of a good playoff run good bye as it laughs away, but some other fans might kill me. So I'll just glare at the article saying that Huey was traded instead. (What did I say yestersay? Oh yeah. Huet would be traded. I must be psychic.)
maybe this is a good thing, I dunno. And quite frankly, I don't see how it could be. Maybe Gainey has some kind of super confidence in the current team? Well, if that's the case, the players better kick their game to THE HIGHEST LEVEL. You... rich athletes... don't let your general manager down.

Cristo, I'll miss you sooo much. It's hard to believe that I was bashing you jokingly a few weeks back and now...poof. You're gone.
You were such an awesome guy; always modest, always a good sport. You did alot for the Habs, and I'm sure fans will never forget you.
Good luck with Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom and company. Have a great career <33

Funny thing is, Halak is up and I'm not really phased by it. Two rookie goalies. What the hell.
I still love him though <3

Here it goes again

Feb 25, 2008

Bofff. Carbs really pisses me off sometimes. He's utterly inconsistent with his goaltenders, and he seems to have a knack with shattering their confidence (where's Aebischer now eh?)
His latest stunt involves trusting rookie Carey price over Huet for tomorrow's game vs. Atlanta. After Pricer's performance on Saturday..and considering the fact that, well, HUET's the veteran of the two...I find his descision rather disrespectful toward Cristobal. Seriously. This is getting ridiculous. Huet was at the top of his game in January when he was the #1 goaltender. Then, when Montreal called Price back from Hamilton, Huet's performance faltered. Ummm, hint hint, Carbs? Cristo's at his best when he's the trusted starter. WHY NOT LET HIM PLAY?? Sure, Carey needs his practice, but still. I'd rather see Huet happy and playing great.

All this to say that if this continues...Huet'll be gone. God knows where, but he won't last here in Montreal, that's for sure. Maybe it's better for him that way (and for the Habs). If they act before the deadline, they may be able to get someone good for him, or at least draft picks/prospects. You never know.
I don't wanna see him leave, he's a great guy. But if it's what's best...

By the way, even if I'd love to see Hossa in Montreal, I'm not sure I'd want to see guys like Valentenko, Grabovski..etc leave Hamilton. Especially not Valentenko. Gosh that guy's awesome. Don Waddell, take your eyes off our prospects!...

Incroyable

Feb 21, 2008

Yes, I'm still not over the Habs incredible win on Tuesday. Seriously, who could be? It was the first time in the club's 100 year history that they came from behind when down by 5 to WIN the game. Dude. That's rad.

Anywho~~ Hamilton's been doing great since Grabovski came back from..wherever he was. He has like at least 3 points a game in his last 5 games. It's craaazy. And my little Jaro's has the 3rd best GAA in the AHL right now ♥♥♥ I'm so happy they're all doing well :D

Next Montreal game: Tonight vs Pens.
Next Hamilton Game: Saturday vs Houston.

when 0 is a good thing

Feb 18, 2008

I watched the end of Saturday's game on CBC (the Leafs game had just finished & they aired the last minute or so after) with my bro in his BFF's motel room with a bunch of his teamates. When the game ended, the whole room (minus the leafs fans) jumped up and down and squeeled. I ran all the way down the hall to the adults' room and burst in.
"OMFG PRICE GOT A SHUTOUT!!111111!!!!"
...
Yeah. I was excited. And they joked and asked, "Oh, did the Habs win, Alex? I can't tell.."
Now th adults can't tease me about being a puck-bunny anymore >:D I actually love hockey. I don't go to the arena just to scope out the players...they're just a bonus ;)

I totally wanted to go to at least ONE of the Timmins Majors' playoff games while I was there, but I didn't get the chance so I'm sad :(
...
but did you SEE A. Kostitsyn's goal on saturday?? Talk Ovechkin style!

Sometimes

Feb 14, 2008

Yes, sometimes I do adore Carey Price. (but don't tell Halak ;D)

Friggin' Kovalev, eh? Shot right through Florida's defenceman's skates and BANG right into the net. Talk about a sniper shot.

Labels: , , , ,

Wow.

Feb 7, 2008

I really don't understand the Habs sometimes.
Oh, and I guess they're screwed now that every team knows to shut down the Kovalev line in order to win. Other than that trio, they're kinda struggling in offense.
:|

OF ALL THE TEAMS. THE LEAFS.
Geez, Montreal!

Oh.
Yeah.
Hi Price.
Are you happy Carbs trusts you more than Halak now?
:(

Feb 3, 2008

5-3 loss to the Rangers.
That's what I get for praising the Habs.
:|

Sergei's penalty-shot goal was awesome. He looked so happy when he scored. He couldn't stop smiling, and neither could I ♥ Then, when he got hit from behind, I jumped up and freaked out on Hellweg. A-HOLE. He gave me a scare :( I thought Kosti was hurt for sure. But he came back later and kept playing strong, do it was all good :)

It would be fun to see Halak play sometime this week. Considering Huet played 2 games in a row...but it probably won't happen. I've been waiting for him to start a game for a while now and...well it hasn't happened.
>:(

Catching up

Feb 2, 2008

With today's win over the Islanders (4-1), the Habs are just 3 points from the division leading Ottawa Senators. Ya'll, that's some good news right there.
Well.
We hope that Toronto wins agaisnt the Sens tonight, 'cause then Montreal will be OFFICIALLY 3 points behind Ottawa. DAMN. RIGHT. I LOVE YOU CANADIENS.

Kovalev was giving me chills all through the game today. He played sooo well. And when he scored that goal, I nearly fell off my chair. He shot it so hardly it just instantaneously bouced back out of the net.
I could go onnn and onnn about how well all the players played, but I'd be here all night. So I'll make this short.

Alexia's notes to players:

Ryder: YOU DEFENDED HIGGINS WHEN COMEAU HIT HIM FROM BEHIND WHAT. High five to you.
Streit: You swiss-cheese, you. You continue to impress me game after game with your skillz from the point, your back-checking, and your perfect contribution around the net. KEEP MAKIN ME PROUD.
Higgins: Totally turned your back to Comeau...and ended up face first into the boards. BUT HEY. You were able to stir things up in the offensive zone, maintain pressure, and get penalties called against the Ilses! (Too bad about that missed open net at the end of the game...) ILY ♥
Kovalev: KOVALEV. WHAT TO SAY ABOUT KOVALEV. Your passes, your goals, the way you move so effortlessly around the ice...in the words of my father: "like an angel on ice". We love you, Kovie.
Komisarek: Sending guys flying left and right (Comrie, say hello to Komi), defending your zone like a warrior, and sticking up for your teamates. SUPER-FREAKING-D-MAN.
Huet: Mon ptit francais... Si tu continue a jouer come tu joue, jvais peut-etre oublier que Halak joue jamais ;) Aww, I kid. I'm just bitter that I don't get to see my fav player play 'cause you're so PRO. You're one of the best goalies of the league at the moment, and you dive to stop break-aways à-la-Hasek. When the hell did you learn how to do that? ;) Rad ♥
Plekanec: Kovalev's partner in crime #1. You're the most generous guy on the team; always passing when you could easily shoot. But man, can you ever bury that bad boy when you want to. Ya leave goalies crying for their mamas. Team playa, awesome all-around ♥
A & S Kostistyn: Kovalev's partener in crime #2, and the wonder-passer who isn't afraid to show who's boss (tough little devil). YOU BROTHERS THERE. I love you guys. Ya'll are blossoming into speedy, creative and dangerous little forwards. I love watching you guys play :'D ♥♥

Well. I could name the rest of the team, really. But I gotta go eat.
SO PEACE ♥
and think happy thoughts about tomorrow's game :D!

You're fired

Jan 22, 2008

"Avec la blessure de Huet, ça m'a permis de connaître un jeune en qui j'ai confiance, il a démontré de bon match avec le Canadien, n'oublions pas qu'on est allé loin? Je crois qu' Halak peut faire quelque chose de bon, comme il nous l'a démontré l'an dernier, j'aimerais le voir avec le Canadien pour longtemps. On dirait même qu' on l'a oublié? On en parle peu."
-comment from RDS.ca (roughly translated into, "When Huet was injured last year, I got the chance to get to know someone young in which I have confidence. He played some good games with the Canadiens -- have we forgotten that we made progress in the standings with him? I beleive Halak can do good things, as he showed us last year, and I'd like to see him with the Habs for a long time. It's almost as if we've forgotten him, though. We barely talk about him anymore."

Finally! Someone who thinks as I do!
Has the world completely forgotten about Halak? After all he did last year? He may be our backup now but that wasn't the case at the end of last year. He stepped in when the team needed it most, and let's not forget that it wasn't his fault that he didn't play during the dreaded "last game of the year". I have nothing agaisnt Huet, but he had JUST gotten back from an injury...and our little Jaro was doing just fine. So why play Cristo? We may never know...
Well. We might have at least made the playoffs :/ That's for sure.

But hey. Cristo-wall is playing great these past few days. So duhhh. Of course he's our numero uno. WOW MONTREAL FINALLY HAS AN OFFICIAL STARTER GOALIE!! The last time that happened...Theodore was still around ;) After him it was like back and forth between Huet, Aebischer (who's in Europe or something?) and Halak...and Price for a while.
Hehehe. A starter! It's great! (for now...until Carbs decides otherwise...)
:o Oops. Did I say that out loud?

So the Leafs finally fired their GM. Not that it's a good thing...it's just that the rumor mill was spitting so much shit out that I didn't know when it would happen. Than BAM. It was done.
So what now, TML?

"Habs fall to Sid-less Pens"
-The beautiful header on canadiens.com of tonight's game

Pitsburgh must be some kind of holy-super-team or something. They won a game even WITHOUT Sid the Baby. Oh, how wonderful.
:|

Good for Sabourin, though. For some unknown reason, he seems to play well against Montreal. What's the deal? I don't know. All I wish is that Conklin (despite being on a winning streak) would've played instead of him. We may have at least scored a goal.

Oh, and did I ever mention I can't stand the Penguins? I didn't mind them a few years back, but ever since Crosby burst onto the scene...well, you know.
Unfortunately...at the begining of Sid's career, I actually...umm... liked him. *flinches* YES BEAT ME IF YOU'D LIKE. I used to think he was the coolest thing... When we went to a Sens/Pens game during my grade 8 school trip, I was jumping up and down at the thought of seeing him live. I was young, okay? I didn't know any better. Geez.

Anyway, next game: Boston.
Mmmm. Bruins.

DID YOU SEE KOSTITSYN'S GOAL LAST NIGHT?!?!
I'm sorry. It was just gorgeous. He deked the whole team before backhanding it top-shelf. I nearly cried.

Anywho. It was fun to watch. Lehtonen was at the top of his game, but the Habs still managed to win in the shootouts. YES! You heard me correctly! In the shootouts! Montreal beat Kovalchuk and Hossa in the shootouts (actually, Kovalchuk didn't even get the chance to shoot, and Holik completely missed the net)! HUET MADE A RAD SAVE ON HOSSA! HE MOVED! I'M PROUD!
'Cause I was preeeetty mad when he let in one of those I-wasn't-even-in-the-net-cause-I-was-trying-to-play-the-puck-goals. Talk about redeeming yourself! Yay Huet<3!

edit:
Look at what I stumbled upon! >here<
When I saw it I was like "I gotta favorite this biatch!" I swear, Halak's the coolest goalie ever born, fosho. Who cares if I couldn't understand a word he said, I'm sure it was something...deep!
;D
...and >one more< for the road. Man, the begining brings back good memories of last season... I miss the days when he played. (Yeah, yeah. I'm having a mega-fan-moment. 'Scuuuuse me.) Too bad about the over played "I Like To Move It Song". Kinda ruins the moment. Really. Take it off.

Jan 17, 2008

I added a header-image thing today. I made it myself :)
(teamcanadagoaliesforthewin)

Habs @ Atlanta tonight!! Good luck against Kovalchuk and company ;) (You'll need it -- especially if the game goes into shootouts and Huet decides to be a bonafide pylon again.)
Hmm. It kinda seems like I have some kind of grudge agaisnt Huet, doesn't it?
...Well.
I don't.
I luv him!

I'm sorry... he's just too cute to not squeel about.
(he's ripped!!! :'D)

/end puck-bunny moment

Dear Habs,
Ya'll better play well tonight. No half-ass this time. I want 60 minutes of non-stop hard work (NOT JUST 40). And Huet. You better prove to me that you were a better choice over Halak. 'Cause I ain't too happy that he ain't playin.
That's my opinion, anyway.
Love,
Alexia (your #1 fan 4evah)<3

My oh my!

Jan 13, 2008

Yeah, so I shouldn't have gotten too excited that Montreal was on a winning streak. I mean, I actually expected them to win against the struggling Rangers, but...you know. The Habs are a special team.
The game did have some positive points, though. Like the fact that Halak played the 3rd period (and didn't let any goals in), and the fact that Sergei Kostistyn (baby brother of Andrei) scored our only goal :) I had fun cheering really loud for those two guys.

I learned at the begining of the week that my mom had e-mailed the Bulldogs to ask if I could possibly meet Halak when we went down (cause I guess I'm some kind of huge fan) and and...they e-mail her back and said that they're always happy to make special requests for fans...and that is where the happy ends. Right after, he told my mom that Halak had been called up and therefore meeting him was not possible. He also added, "I'm sure your daughter will be very proud of him for being in Montreal!!"
...
... *twitch*
...
Of course I'm proud. I'm very, very happy!
BUT MEETING HIM WOULDA BEEN SPEC-FREAKING-TACULAR.

And this whole thing woulda been a surprise for me. Imagine the look on my face... Ohhh god. It would of been priceless. (I was friggin starstruck/speechless when I met friggin Alain Goulet! Frigg! Imagine me meeting Halak?? It would be like an instant cardiac arrest!)

YAY! I watched San Jose come from behind and beat the Maple Laffs last night. I had fun laughing at them (and Nabokov 'cause he's just the funniest/cutest goalie ever).
The strange thing is, at the end of the game, when I was done snickering and when I realized this was yet ANOTHER disapointing loss for the Leafs, I think I actually felt a grain of sadness for them (their having some...troubles. I mean, WHAT KIND OF TEAM turns down Scotty Bowman???). I know. I had to pinch myself to see if I was having some kind of twisted nightmare. ME?? SYMPATHY?? TORONTO???? NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Talk about a funky hockey night.
